Publications

  • Collaborative Leadership for Transforming Education in Learning Ecosystems (November 2023): Building on the previous two reports, “Education Reimagined: Leadership for a New Era” and “Education Reimagined: Leadership for Transformation” by the WISE Agile Leaders of Learning Innovation Network (ALL-IN), this report contributes to a deeper understanding of the type of leadership needed to cultivate healthy, thriving, and equitable learning ecosystems that benefit both present and future learners.

  • Uniting Generations and Sharing Power to Transform Education (September 2023): An output from the 2023 Transforming Education Co-Action Summit, this guide is a starting point for all those committed to sharing power and taking an inclusive approach to transforming education. It makes the case for uniting generations and sharing power, explores definitions, provides examples, and offers a co-created checklist for organizations and leaders to consider in their events.

  • Developing Well-Being Focused Education Ecosystems: Towards One Earth, One Family, One Future (August 2023): The IF20 Education Policy Brief highlights interfaith-inspired collaboration's significance in global education. It urges G20 leaders, meeting under India's 'One Earth, One Family, One Future' theme, to prioritize inclusive educational practices that value all life. Practical actions include fostering intercultural learning, supporting vulnerable populations, and aligning with sustainable development goals. Salzburg Global Seminar is a partner in the IF20 Education Working Group.

  • Education Reimagined: Leadership for Transformation (September 2022): This eBook introduces 23 brief case studies with lessons learned, research evidence and findings. They showcase innovation in leadership, policy and practice on how emerging models teaching and learning can be developed and led from the inside-out—and demonstrate the power of distributed empowerment and transformative leadership.

  • TransformED: The Case for Education Transformation (September 2022): A special bookazine edition by Diplomatic Courier and Salzburg Global Seminar. This essay collection is penned by a group of educators, policymakers, academics, and education activists from around the world who met in May 2022 at Schloss Leopoldskron, the home of Salzburg Global Seminar, to take part in a five-day program called Education Futures: Shaping a New Education Story – part of Salzburg Global Seminar’s Education for Tomorrow’s World series.

  • Breadth of Skills: Education Transformation, Vol I (September 2022): All of the essays in this collection have been written by members of the Education Policymakers Network. Among the many reasons for focusing on three- to 12-year-olds is the fact that children need skills and mindsets that will help them become lifelong learners, navigate uncertainties from an early age, and develop to their full potential. The essays in this collection and the wider work of the Education Policymakers Network shows that this topic resonates in a variety of education systems around the world.

  • Education Reimagined: Leadership for a New Era (March 2022): The special publication focuses on the work of our three ALL-IN thematic working groups, who came together throughout 2021 to consider research, policy and practice into developing a global capabilities framework that informs the growth of future leaders; teacher and team leadership, and the development of a leadership-oriented education workforce; and the leadership of networks, clusters and communities.

  • Social and Emotional Learning in the Mediterranean (October 2020): This book is the first publication of this kind to explore how the Mediterranean region is seeking to address the issues and challenges in the promotion and implementation of SEL. It is an attempt to raise awareness on the SEL policies, frameworks and practices taking place in the Mediterranean region, to share and celebrate good practices, and to critically reflect on the challenges faced in the effective implementation of SEL in the region, with recommendations for policy, interventions and research.

  • Education Disrupted, Education Reimagined: Responses from education’s frontline during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond (September 2020): This eBook is a contemporary historical record of how schools, NGOs, governments, and international organizations responded to school closures during the COVID-19 crisis and how they are attempting to use this crisis as a springboard to reimagine—and even transform—education in their communities and countries.

It brings together experts, educators, and enthusiasts from around the world to exchange ideas and solutions for a more sustainable future. Recordings from the various sessions can be found here.
